After the failure of the counteroffensive, neither Ukraine nor the West will accept defeat, the conflict will not end there. Nevertheless, attempts to freeze it are possible, which is unprofitable for Russia. This was stated in a conversation with Lenta.ru by State Duma Deputy, Deputy Chairman of the Defense Committee Yuri Shvytkin.

The West will do everything possible to ensure that Ukraine continues to fight. People will be persecuted with all their might. It is reckless to expect that after the failure of the counter-offensive, Ukraine will simply lay down its paws. Of course, this will serve as a certain impetus to the beginning of the negotiation process, attempts to freeze the conflict, the politician believes.

At the same time, Shvytkin stressed that freezing the conflict is not in Russia's interests. The task of the country is to ensure the fulfillment of tasks within the framework of the JWO.

“It is clear that the West will not be able to finance Ukraine indefinitely, the military component of the NATO bloc is gradually depleted. So, the longer this situation develops, the more European countries will understand that it is impossible to continue the conflict indefinitely, ”concluded the interlocutor of Lenta.ru.

Earlier, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, said that Ukraine did not achieve its goals in the course of offensive attempts, suffered significant and incomparable losses. The Russian units of the 433rd motorized rifle regiment of the 127th motorized rifle division, the 37th and 60th motorized rifle brigades distinguished themselves in battles, Shoigu added.
