President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with the envoy of the Vatican Matteo Zuppi, RIA Novosti reports.

During the meeting, the Ukrainian leader said that Kyiv was only considering its own option for resolving the conflict and that a ceasefire would not lead to peace.

Earlier, the Secretary of State of the Vatican, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, said that the peace mission, led by the head of the Conference of Italian Bishops, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, should remove obstacles to resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

At the same time, the cardinal did not disclose other details of the mission.

Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of Vladimir Zelensky's office, said that before the start of the Vatican's mission, which is aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine, Kyiv put forward a number of conditions.

Prior to this, Podolyak commented on the statement of Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin on the end of the conflict in Ukraine and put forward Kyiv's counter demands to Moscow.
