The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called the comparison of the agreements between Kosovo and Serbia with the Minsk agreements used by the EU Special Representative for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajcak, “fundamentally wrong”. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

Zakharova called the Ohrid agreements between Kosovo and Serbia a political declaration without legal obligations and stressed that "the West stubbornly demands the implementation of this scheme, blaming the Serbian leadership for non-compliance."

“Such a comparison is fundamentally wrong just because, unlike the Minsk agreements, the agreements reached in February-March by Belgrade and Pristina are exclusively oral,” the press secretary of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized and caught Lajcak and the EU in an effort to disown the Minsk agreements, recalling that the authors of the agreements later “confessed that from the very beginning they worked to prolong and escalate the Ukrainian crisis.”

“If the EU had pushed the Kiev regime for the implementation of Minsk with the same zeal that they are now putting pressure on Belgrade, then the tragic development of events in Ukraine would most likely have been avoided,” the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.

Earlier, Kosovo Foreign Minister Gervala-Schwartz allowed new elections in Serbian municipalities.

On March 18, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic held talks with Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti in Ohrid, Macedonia, mediated by the EU. After 12 hours of discussions, the parties agreed on a course of action to normalize relations.

On April 24, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said that the EU and the West had been deceiving Serbia in the Kosovo negotiations for 10 years.
