Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, at a briefing with reporters, did not answer the question of how the destruction at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station (HPP) could affect the conduct of a special military operation.

“This is a question for the Ministry of Defense, I can’t talk about this,” he said.

In addition, Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian Federation rejects Ukraine's accusation of blowing up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. The representative of the Kremlin accused Kyiv of committing sabotage at the hydroelectric power station.

Also, Peskov, citing experts, said that the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station does not pose risks for the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, but the details should be clarified with specialists. The press secretary of the Russian head of state also noted that a margin of safety is provided in Crimea for providing water from the reserves of local reservoirs.

On the night of June 6, in the Kherson region, the upper part of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station was destroyed near Novaya Kakhovka. Dozens of settlements, including Kherson and New Kakhovka, began to be flooded with water.

Russia and Ukraine accuse each other of destroying the dam. There is also a version that the accident occurred due to "old damage".
