Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov accused Ukraine of committing sabotage at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station in the Kherson region.

Thus, he rejected the statements of Kyiv that Russia was involved in the state of emergency.

“We can resolutely reject them (the accusations). We officially declare that here we are clearly talking about a deliberate sabotage by the Ukrainian side. The Kiev regime should bear full responsibility for the consequences," the Kremlin spokesman said.

At the same time, he added that decisions on the evacuation of the population will be made by local authorities.

On the night of June 6, in the Kherson region, the upper part of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station was destroyed near Novaya Kakhovka. Dozens of settlements, including Kherson and New Kakhovka, began to be flooded with water.

Russia and Ukraine accuse each other of destroying the dam. There is also a version that the accident occurred due to "old damage". The Ukrhydroenergo company stated that the station was completely destroyed and cannot be restored.
