The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine proposed to convene an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council in connection with the explosion at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station (HPP). This is stated in the message on the website of the department.

“According to the results of the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council on the morning of June 6, the list of actions of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry in the context of the response proposed by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba was agreed upon, which, in particular, includes convening an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council by Ukraine,” the report says.

It is also proposed to discuss what happened at a meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors.

On the night of June 6, in the Kherson region, the upper part of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station was destroyed near Novaya Kakhovka. Dozens of settlements, including Kherson and New Kakhovka, began to be flooded with water.

Russia and Ukraine accuse each other of destroying the dam. There is also a version that the accident occurred due to "old damage". The Ukrhydroenergo company stated that the station was completely destroyed and cannot be restored.
