"Smilies" on the building of the Paris City Hall are placed in solidarity with the protesters against the pension reform. This was announced by the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo in an interview with radio station France Inter.

“I welcome this movement. It sets an example, it is peaceful and united,” she said.

Hidalgo also called the economic situation in the country "catastrophic". She noted that in the presidential elections in the country, which Emmanuel Macron won, no one voted for pension reform.

The mayor of Paris opined that the process of passing the pension reform in France showed that "democracy is collapsing." Speaking about the consideration of the proposal to abolish the pension reform in the National Assembly, she noted that "you should never close the bench of democracy."

A new protest action of trade unions against raising the retirement age in France will be held today, June 6. Law enforcement agencies expect participation from 400 to 600 thousand people.

The protest will take place two days before the consideration of the proposal to abolish the pension reform in the National Assembly. The law on judicial reform was adopted by the government bypassing the National Assembly.
