Seven years after the rupture of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, Tehran will reopen its diplomatic offices in the kingdom. This was stated by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani.

According to Kanaani, on June 6 and 7, the Iranian embassy in Riyadh, the consulate general in Jeddah and the country's permanent representation in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will resume their work.

The representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry added that the embassy and consulate general have already begun to resolve issues that alleviate the situation of Iranian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.

Earlier it was reported that Iran and Saudi Arabia would reopen their embassies in Tehran and Riyadh until May 9. This was announced after the Iranian delegation visited Riyadh, and the Saudi delegation visited Tehran as part of joint work to resume the activities of the embassies of the two states. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi accepted the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia to visit the capital of the Saudi kingdom.
