Erdogan appoints his press secretary as head of Turkish intelligence

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has appointed his press secretary Ibrahim Kalin to head the country's National Intelligence Organization (MİT). It is reported by Anadolu.

“Kalyn was appointed head of the National Intelligence Organization,” the article says.

According to the agency, the official has served as presidential press secretary since December 2014. He also worked in important positions at the level of foreign policy and security of the country.

Earlier, the Hürriyet newspaper named the name of a candidate for the post of head of Turkish national intelligence.

On June 3, President Erdogan announced the list of the country's new government. Hakan Fidan, who previously served as head of the MİT, has been appointed as the new Turkish foreign minister. On the same day, the newly elected head of state took the oath in the Turkish Grand National Assembly and officially took office as president of the republic.
