Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that the Russian Federation sees no prospects for extending the grain deal, TASS reports.

“We announced that the condition for further extension is the implementation of those five points, without a solution on which the functioning of the memorandum of understanding between Russia and the UN is impossible. Since these items are not being implemented, despite all the efforts of the UN Secretariat and the Secretary General personally, we see no prospects for an extension,” the permanent representative said.

According to him, "problems rest" on the unilateral sanctions that Western countries have imposed on the Russian Federation. The diplomat drew attention to the fact that the United States and the European Union declare that food and fertilizers are not subject to restrictions, but “this is all a crafty position”, since food and fertilizers themselves are not subject to sanctions, “but everything that accompanies is associated with the export of fertilizers, just falls under them.

“This includes freight, insurance, and bank transfers, this is the maintenance of agricultural machinery,” he explained.

As Nebenzia pointed out, they are trying to convince Moscow that these issues have supposedly been resolved, but in reality this is not the case. And one-time deals do not solve the problem systematically, he added.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said that there could be no talk of resuming the Black Sea grain initiative on July 17 without solving the problem with Russian ammonia.
