President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that an attempt by Western countries to restrict the movement of goods by rail and road between the republic and the Kaliningrad region is doomed to failure. He made the corresponding statement at a meeting with the governor of the Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov, the BelTA agency reports.

“I am sure you will agree with me that the unprecedented attempt made by the West in 2022 to restrict our communication with you, the free movement of goods by rail and road from both Russia and Belarus, this attempt was doomed to failure,” said the head of the states.

He pointed out that the Russian Federation and Belarus could not be "separated by artificial barriers."

Lukashenka also said that Minsk and Moscow still tolerate the antics of the West, but this is dangerous for the side that comes up with such initiatives. According to him, not only an economic war is unleashed in this way, which "madmen in the West are trying to declare not for the first time" against Belarus and the Russian Federation.

“Then let them not be offended. Moreover, we do not threaten anyone. We simply observe our interests - Belarus and Russia. So far, with difficulty, but somehow manage to endure all these antics,” said the Belarusian leader.

He also emphasized that this cannot continue indefinitely. Therefore, the leadership of the Baltic countries, "and, probably, Poland, should understand this very well," the politician added.

Earlier in June, Lukashenko said that the West was preparing a forceful scenario for a change of power in Belarus.
