The Armed Forces of Ukraine (UAF) launched a counteroffensive, as evidenced by data from US military satellites. It is reported by The New York Times, citing US officials.

Unnamed U.S. officials claim U.S. military satellites picked up a surge in activity at UAF positions. They noted that the satellites have infrared devices to track artillery fire and missile launches.

One of the difficulties in determining the exact start of a counter-offensive, the sources say, is that the fighting could very well begin with feints or diversions that are hard to decipher.

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are moving to offensive operations in some areas. She added that the Artyomovsk direction remains the epicenter of hostilities.
