The Moldovan authorities, with their proposal to postpone and rename Victory Day, are deepening the split in society, according to the opposition Party of Socialists. The Telegram channel of the political force notes that the country's leadership does not take into account the position of the people on the issue of celebrating May 9.

“President [Moldova Maya] Sandu and the PAS [Action and Solidarity] party must realize that they are not in a vacuum. They must understand that, in addition to their personal historical grievances and complexes, in addition to obligations to Western curators, there is the people of Moldova, on whose behalf they exercise power and to whom they are responsible. There is a society whose opinion the authorities are obliged to listen to,” the message says.

As indicated in the Socialist Party, the political force is going to organize parliamentary public hearings on June 7 on the proposal to cancel the Victory Day. The party emphasized that this is the only way to demonstrate to the authorities the attitude of the majority towards this issue.

Earlier it was reported that a rally was held in Moldova against the cancellation of the celebration of Victory Day.
