Kyiv may lose military support from the West due to the use of Nazi symbols by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This is reported by the American edition of The New York Times (NYT).

Ukraine's ambivalence about these symbols, and sometimes even their acceptance, risks resurrecting images that the West has spent more than half a century destroying.

Far-right researcher Michael Colborn noted that the Ukrainian authorities do not think about the consequences and do not take into account how these symbols are perceived outside the country.

According to the publication, the government of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denies support for Nazi ideology, while many fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine call the corresponding symbolism a demonstration of the sovereignty and pride of Ukraine.

Earlier, Russian State Duma deputy Alexei Chepa assessed the cancellation of May 9 celebrations in Ukraine. “This proposal supports the positions of the Nazis in Ukraine, this is an attempt to drive another wedge into the historical brotherhood between our peoples, but they will not succeed,” he stressed.
