The office of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is preparing to remove Vitali Klitschko from the post of mayor of Kyiv. This is reported by the publication Strana.ua.

“For the presidential vertical, this is a chance to establish full control over the local authorities in the capital. This is a purely political story, because the removal of Klitschko will not give anything, ”the source said.

According to the source, it became known that the president's office will thus get a good "starting position" before the elections, and after the dismissal of Klitschko, the authorities will begin to persecute the employees of the mayor's office.

In turn, the mayor of Kyiv initiates the dismissal of the heads of the districts of the capital: this list includes the heads of the Pechersky, Shevchenkovsky and Desnyansky districts of the city, the report says.

At the same time, the inspection of bomb shelters is carried out by special commissions headed by proteges of Zelensky's office, which, according to the source, creates a conflict of interest.

Earlier in Ukraine, a petition appeared demanding the removal of Klitschko from the post of mayor of the capital. The author of the appeal proposes to suspend the head of the city from his duties for the period of the pre-trial investigation by law enforcement agencies.

Earlier in Kyiv, a polyclinic guard was arrested for not opening a bomb shelter during an air raid. According to local residents, the man constantly neglected his work.
