The Ukrainian Institute for the Future (UIF) has published a demographic forecast showing that the decline in the economically active population over several years will lead to a significant increase in the number of pensioners and non-working citizens. This is reported by the Telegram-channel "Policy of the country".

According to published data, since February 24, 2022, about eight and a half million people left Ukraine and did not return. Therefore, the current population of the country is about 29 million.

Of these 29 million, only nine are working, and if you do not take into account workers in the public sector, then only 6 million are economically active. Against this background, the fertility rate in the republic fell below one.

“If nothing is changed, in the next few years there will be twice as many pensioners in Ukraine as employed,” the forecast concludes.

Earlier, the head of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine Oleg Didenko said that in preparing the first elections since February 24, 2022, the country's authorities will take into account the factor of Ukrainians who left the country.
