Ukraine confirms information about a fire in a shelter for Ukrainian refugees in Thuringia

Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Oleksiy Makeev confirmed the information that a fire broke out in a shelter for Ukrainian refugees in the federal state of Thuringia in Germany. He wrote about this on social networks, his post is published by Strana.ua.

He said that, “according to preliminary information, there are victims,” but did not provide other details, referring to the ongoing investigation.

According to media reports, a fire broke out in the hostel where Ukrainian refugees lived in the city of Apolda and a child died. The body of a child was found in the building, his identity has not yet been established.

The police said that because of the fire, another 10 people were injured, they were taken to the hospital.

The investigation into the circumstances of the incident continues.

Earlier, Ukrainian refugees complained about insults and attacks from the inhabitants of Saxony. Ukrainians were reported to have regularly had their tires punctured and abused during demonstrations.
