The Russian Pacific Fleet will be strengthened by the Project 636.3 Ufa diesel submarine, which will become part of the Pacific Fleet in the fall of 2023. Izvestia writes about this on Monday, June 5, citing sources in the military department.

According to them, several route options are being worked out, including along the Northern Sea Route. During the cruise, the crew will conduct several exercises with ships, as well as with naval aviation aircraft. The decision to move the submarine was made at the end of last autumn following the results of its tests in the north-east of Russia.

Project 636.3 submarines are considered to be among the quietest in the world, for which they were nicknamed "black holes" in the Navy. They are designed, among other things, to destroy surface and underwater targets, conduct patrols and reconnaissance.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Russian Navy has received 6 ships and vessels since the beginning of 2023, and by the end of the year, another 30 ships, boats and vessels will enter the fleet. Prior to this, Izvestia, citing sources in the Ministry of Defense, wrote that by the end of 2023, four ships would enter the Black Sea Fleet.
