Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that human rights and European values are already a “gutta-percha” term for the EU countries themselves. This was announced by the Kremlin representative on the air of the Russia 1 channel.

According to Peskov, the European side recalls "human rights" only when such an issue is on the agenda and is convenient.

Peskov commented on the silence of the West regarding the shelling of the Belgorod region by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the relationship with the postulates of human rights.

“Human rights and European values are such a gutta-percha thing in the understanding of the same Europeans,” the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation noted.

As Peskov added, the Europeans thus "continue their gutta-percha line."

As a result, references to all rights and norms can only occur at those moments when this position is beneficial to Europeans.

“When they are uncomfortable, these links don’t happen,” Peskov concluded.

Earlier, the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said that the Ukrainian military fired on the outskirts of the village of Tishanka.
