The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Igor Klymenko, in an interview with BBC News Ukrainian, said that about 1.2 million firearms were registered with citizens of the country.

Klymenko noted that, according to European partners, after the end of hostilities, this figure could reach three million. He recalled that in the first days after the start of the Russian special operation, the authorities distributed a large number of weapons to citizens, now members of the territorial defense (TRO) and volunteer formations of territorial communities (VFTO) have them. In this regard, the minister expressed fears that criminals could take possession of the weapon.
