Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov discussed the prospects for military cooperation between Baku and Washington by phone with US Under Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs Colin Kahl. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.

It is noted that the conversation took place at the initiative of the American side.

“The sides had a detailed exchange of views on bilateral relations, the situation in the region and security issues. During the telephone conversation, the prospects for the development of bilateral military cooperation were also discussed," the press service said.

Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed the situation on the border with Azerbaijan with Javier Kolomina, Special Representative of the NATO Secretary General for the South Caucasus and Central Asia.

In April, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to engage in dialogue and peace talks.
