Artificial intelligence (AI) makes it possible to control various types of weapons systems without direct human intervention, which in the future may make it possible to minimize the number of victims in conflicts. This was stated in a conversation with Lenta.ru by a military expert, retired colonel Viktor Litovkin.

“Artificial intelligence is a loose concept, what we understand by it is very important. There are neural networks, self-programming structures, there are robots that operate according to programs set by a person, ”Litovkin listed.

He noted that it is premature to say that AI, neural networks have already become firmly established in practice and are used everywhere in the framework of conflicts. However, the colonel considers it important that such developments are underway and gradually lead to better results.

“AI is of great importance because it allows you to control different types of weapons without human intervention. A person thus does not fall under return fire. Iron can always be recreated, man cannot. So yes, there are robots on the battlefield, there are automated weapons systems. There is also the use of AI, which works faster than a person, ”concluded the interlocutor of Lenta.ru.
