Moldova will never join the European Union (EU), and it does not need an integration group itself, Ilan Shor, head of the opposition Shor party, said on the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

“Another empty statement. No one will ever accept Moldova into the European Union. Moreover, Moldova does not need the European Union,” he reacted to the words of the President of the Republic, Maia Sandu. Shor recalled that according to the constitution, Moldova is a neutral state that does not enter into political and economic blocs.

He also stated that the country's opposition demands an immediate suspension of all European integration processes, as they will lead to a worsening of the socio-economic situation in the country.

Earlier, Sandu admitted that Moldova would join the EU by 2030. According to her, the country may enter the EU together with the unrecognized Pridnestrovie.
