Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal will consider a petition for the dismissal of the head of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko. The proposal, published on the website of the government of Ukraine, collected the necessary 25,000 votes for consideration.

“While in the post of Minister of Culture and Information Policy, (Alexander Tkachenko - approx. “Lenta.ru”) managed his activities in such a way that caused stagnation in the cultural sphere,” the message says.

The head of the Ministry of Culture is accused of non-compliance with the words, “defiling the memory of all the deceased Heroes of Ukraine” and showing extreme disdain for the fighters who give their lives. “The people are outraged by the policy of Mr. Tkachenko,” the author of the petition claims.

In May 2023, Tkachenko approached the organizers of the Eurovision Song Contest with a request to perform online at the competition of President Volodymyr Zelensky. However, two days later he received a rejection email. The minister noted that there was no official request from Ukraine, and Zelensky himself did not know about his initiative.
