It makes no sense for Russia to negotiate with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, they need to start after the denazification of the country. This was stated in an interview with RIA Novosti by the former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, ex-Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Tabachnik.

“With Zelensky (negotiations) are impossible. Well, there is no point in discussing (peace conditions),” he stressed.

According to him, it is possible to start negotiations only after the denazification of Ukraine. Tabachnik noted that he proceeds "from those postulates that are generally accepted."

“The President of the Russian Federation spoke about denazification. Probably, negotiations should be conducted when this happens, ”the politician summed up.

Earlier, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that he was “without optimism” about the situation in Ukraine. Russia will not enter into peace talks until it wins the conflict, he said.

The last face-to-face negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv took place at the end of March 2022 in Istanbul. As a result of the meeting, it was stated that Russia received confirmation of Ukraine's intentions to abandon the course of joining NATO. After that, several rounds were held online, and then the negotiations stopped. Subsequently, Zelensky signed a decree banning negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Putin later stated that Russia, unlike its opponents, does not refuse to negotiate on this situation. He stressed that Moscow always seeks to resolve disputes by peaceful means.
