A captive Ukrainian border guard confessed to shooting two civilians in Mariupol. He spoke about this during his testimony, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the prisoner of war, in March 2022, ten fighters of the Azov regiment (recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia), led by a staff sergeant of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, took up positions in the city center to control the sector and check documents.

A man and a woman on a scooter drove up to one of the intersections, they stopped at the request of the Ukrainian military, but soon the shooting began.

The prisoner emphasized that nothing threatened the civilians, but they got scared and started moving without a command. “I shouted “Stop!”, they did not respond to this demand, after which I opened fire to kill,” the border guard recalled, noting that he shot in the back and in the chest area. The Ukrainian explained this by saying that he "thought that they support the special military operation of the Russian Federation."

Earlier, the captured Ukrainian fighter Alexander Sykylynda told how his branch in 2022 in Mariupol committed the murder of a family with a child. According to him, in March last year, five fighters noticed their car 300 meters from their position in Mariupol and decided to open fire.
