In the United States lost a million spare parts for the F-35

The US Department of Defense and Lockheed Martin have lost more than one million parts for the F-35 fifth-generation fighter over the past five years, totaling at least $85 million. This is with reference to the report of the United States Accounts Chamber reports Defense News.

The auditors noted that the US government does not have its own parts tracking system, so federal officials do not know how many aircraft parts actually are in stock. The inspectors do not rule out that significantly more details than one million could be lost.

The publication notes that the loss of details causes disagreement between the US Department of Defense and Lockheed Martin on how to regard the situation.

The corporation noted that they are working with the Defense Contract Management Agency to provide documents confirming the disposal of parts that maintenance personnel may consider "redundant, obsolete or unusable."

The same regulator report says that Lockheed Martin may need to undertake an additional $38 billion overhaul of the F-35 fifth-generation fighter jet engines in the coming decades.
