Smartphone market analysts predicted a decline in the supply of devices to the market. This is reported by CNET.

According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) report, the smartphone market will fall this year. According to the forecast, shipments will decrease by 3.2 percent to 1.17 billion units. Earlier, IDC specialists published a more optimistic forecast - in February, experts expected the market to fall by only 1.1 percent.

Analysts called inflation the main reason for the decline in supplies on the global market. “If 2022 was the year of excess stocks, then 2023 is the year of caution,” said Nabila Popal, director of research at IDC. Also, experts expect that in 2024 the market will recover - growth will be about 6 percent year on year.

The material says that only one segment of the market - foldable smartphones - will grow. “We continue to see more foldable devices in the market, which is a big technological leap forward for the industry,” said Ryan Reith, vice president of IDC.

Earlier it became known that Apple devices topped the list of best-selling premium smartphones in the first quarter of 2023. According to Canalys, the most popular device was the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
