The Polish government has signed an agreement to purchase 800 Hellfire II air-to-surface guided missiles to equip the new attack helicopters. It is reported by Defense News.

It is noted that the contract for the sale of missiles manufactured by Lockheed Martin was signed by the Arms Agency of the Polish Ministry of National Defense and the US Army Security Assistance Command (USASAC).

The amount of the transaction is about 150 million dollars. Missile deliveries, which could extend until 2029, are scheduled to begin this year. Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said the weapon is intended to equip AW149 support helicopters, as well as Boeing AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopters, which are planned to be purchased from the United States.

AGM-114K Hellfire II differs from the basic version of the missile in an improved anti-interference semi-active laser homing head. The ammunition was put into service in 1991.

In February, military expert Aleksey Leonkov expressed the opinion that Poland sent Grad multiple launch rocket systems to Ukraine on the condition that the United States reimburse them with deliveries of High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS).
