The company PLD Space has canceled the first test launch of the Spanish suborbital launch vehicle Miura 1 due to adverse weather conditions, the newspaper El Mundo writes.

The company clarified that the attempt to launch the first fully designed and built in Spain rocket was canceled due to gusts of wind, which were recorded a few minutes before the countdown began. "The launch pad and rocket are in excellent condition, and the team is determined for the days ahead," PLD Space said in a statement.

It is noted that the launch window provided by the Spanish Ministry of Defense closed today. There is no word yet on when the company will be able to try the launch again. The rocket test will last 12 minutes. The rise of Miura 1 to an altitude of 50 to 80 kilometers can take about six minutes. Then the parachute descent will begin. In the Atlantic Ocean, a ship will pick up the rocket.

During the flight, the manufacturer plans to collect information to test the structure, technology and processes that will later be integrated into the Miura 5 rocket.

The launch was planned to be carried out at the base of El Arenocillo in the province of Huelva (autonomous community of Andalusia) in cooperation with the National Institute of Aerospace Engineering (INTA).

Earlier it became known that tests of the first stage of the promising American space rocket Vulcan Centaur were postponed due to a problem in the ignition system.
