The design of the Russian communications and broadcasting satellite Express-AMU4 has been completed. This was reported by the Reshetnev company on Telegram.

The relevant design documentation is currently being issued. It is noted that the satellite is planned to be manufactured on the basis of the Express-1000 medium-class platform, which is being modified in accordance with the import substitution program.

In October, Alexei Volin, CEO of Kosmicheskaya Svyaz, announced that enterprises in the Russian rocket and space industry had begun production of a completely domestic communications satellite. According to RIA Novosti, the corresponding spacecraft will be Express-AMU4.

In November 2013, Oleg Ostapenko, head of the federal space agency Roskosmos, proposed to Dmitry Rogozin, the former vice-premier of the Russian government, that Reshetnev be the sole supplier of telecommunications satellites.
