North Korea said that during the launch of the second stage of the launch vehicle with the military reconnaissance satellite Mannigen-1, an emergency situation arose. The failure is reported by the TsTAK agency.

In particular, the satellite launch failed due to the rocket's unstable engine, as well as fuel characteristics. Mannigen-1 was launched using the Chollima-1 launch vehicle. During departure, problems arose, as a result of which the aircraft fell into the Yellow Sea. The launch took place at 06:27 local time (00:27 Moscow time).

“The cause of the incident is considered to be the insufficient reliability and stability of the new engine system introduced into the Chonrima-1 type transport launch vehicle, as well as the instability of the characteristics of the used fuel. Scientists, engineers and experts are looking into the specific cause,” said a spokesman for the National Space Development Agency.

The agency also promised to eliminate the identified defects in order to "relaunch as soon as possible."

Earlier it was reported that the South Korean military is trying to pick up the wreckage of a North Korean missile with a military satellite. North Korea has launched what it calls a "space launch vehicle."
