Roskosmos specified the timing of the launch of the first mission to the moon in the history of modern Russia and announced the postponement of the launch of the Luna-25 automatic station to August, TASS reports.

“It was recognized as expedient to launch the Luna-25 spacecraft in August 2023,” the state corporation said. Earlier it was reported that the device will fly to the Earth's satellite on July 13.

Roscosmos noted that the spacecraft is currently undergoing the final cycle of ground tests, and statistical modeling of a soft landing on the Moon is being completed.

To achieve the necessary reliability of the mission, it is necessary to check all ground controls at the stages of correction and landing, the state corporation added.

Earlier it became known that the implementation of the Russian missions "Luna-26" (orbital) and "Luna-27" (landing) will begin in 2027-2028.
