For the first time, Russia has fully deployed a constellation of hydrometeorological devices in geostationary orbit, consisting of Elektro satellites No. 2, No. 3, No. 4. Roscosmos reports this in Telegram.
The state corporation notes that hydrometeorological satellites allow surveying the Earth's surface every 15 minutes.
“Thanks to the images from the devices, global issues of climate monitoring are solved, an analysis of the state of the seas and oceans is provided, the efficiency of weather forecasts is increased, and emergency information is issued when emergencies are detected,” Roskosmos said.
In February, the state corporation announced that the SKIF-VE spectrometer was sent into space on a Proton-M rocket launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, together with the Elektro-L satellite No. 4.
