The new heavy military transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A was handed over to the Russian Ministry of Defense after testing. This was reported by the press service of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC).

“The new heavy military transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A, manufactured by Aviastar, a branch of PJSC Il (part of the Rostec United Aircraft Corporation), was handed over to the customer, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Ground and flight tests of the aircraft were successful, on time. The new transporter has replenished the air regiment of military transport aviation, ”the message says.

It is noted that the upgraded aircraft, which was created from domestic components, has improved basic characteristics compared to previous versions. In particular, the flight range and the transported load have been increased, as well as the quality of radio communications, the accuracy of landing and aircraft navigation have been improved.

The corporation added that several Il-76MD-90A aircraft, envisaged by the production program for 2023, are in the production of Aviastar in varying degrees of readiness.

In February, the head of the UAC, Yuri Slyusar, announced that the first Tu-160M strategic missile carrier built in Russia from scratch under the program to resume production was named "Valentina Tereshkova".
