SpaceShipTwo completes first suborbital flight in two years

Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo (VSS Unity) made its first suborbital flight in almost two years. It is reported by SpaceNews.

The carrier aircraft VMS Eve with the spaceship SpaceShipTwo took off from the strip of the spaceport America in the US state of New Mexico. The takeoff took place about an hour later than the scheduled time. Virgin Galactic did not say the reason for the delay.

In flight, VSS Unity after disconnecting from VMS Eve was almost 15 minutes, reaching an altitude of 87.2 kilometers. Virgin Galactic called the mission a fantastic achievement.

The flight was not accompanied by a live broadcast. Virgin Galactic is expected to start commercial missions in the future.

In April, the suborbital spacecraft SpaceShipTwo made its first flight in nearly two years. The ship disconnected from the VMS Eve carrier aircraft at an altitude of 14.3 kilometers, after which VSS Unity landed nine minutes later.
