The first in almost ten years, the Russian Earth observation radar satellite "Kondor-FKA" has the ability to conduct interferometric surveys. Features of the RIA Novosti spacecraft were revealed by the chief designer in the direction - the director of the Joint Directorate of Space Systems of the Scientific and Production Association (NPO) of Mechanical Engineering Alexei Rabochiy.

According to him, we are talking about obtaining images of the same territory under close observation conditions. “In addition, a number of technical measures have been implemented to improve such characteristics as the accuracy of radar image referencing (it can reach up to 10 meters) and daily performance of up to 100 frames in detailed spotlight mode,” the specialist said.

According to him, the Kondor-FKA spacecraft will allow round-the-clock monitoring of the Earth's surface, regardless of weather conditions. “What actually means guaranteed receipt of images within the stated time,” Rabochiy clarified.

Earlier, Roskosmos reported that the Soyuz-2.1a rocket with the Fregat upper stage and the first Kondor-FKA radar satellite was taken to the launch complex 1C of the Vostochny cosmodrome. The rocket was launched on May 27 at 00:14 Moscow time. Satellite "Condor-FKA" No. 1 successfully separated from the upper stage.
