The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Washington said that Russia and Belarus, in the light of the hybrid war unleashed against them by the United States, have the right to ensure their security, including within the framework of cooperation in the military-nuclear sphere. “We are again accused of irresponsible and provocative behavior. We would like to emphasize that we are talking about the sovereign right of Russia and Belarus to ensure their security in the ways that we consider necessary in the context of a large-scale hybrid war unleashed by Washington against us,” the statement says.

They stressed that the measures being taken are in line with the international legal obligations of states.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden said that he was extremely negative about the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus.

On May 25, Lukashenko announced that the transfer of non-strategic nuclear weapons from the Russian Federation to Belarus had already begun, and thanked Russian leader Vladimir Putin for the decision to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in the country. He also stressed that Russia's non-strategic nuclear weapons, which are located on Belarusian territory, will be completely safe.
