Sources at Tesla have released classified data regarding problems with the Autopilot system. This is reported by the German edition of Handelsblatt.

Sebastian Matthes, editor-in-chief of network media, said several sources working at Tesla sent the information to them. The 100 gigabyte archive contains thousands of reports of problems that owners of the brand's electric cars encountered during the operation of the autopilot. The document contained information on 2,400 problems relating to arbitrary acceleration of the car, and 1,500 reports of arbitrary braking.

Insiders said that the data was collected from the beginning of 2015 to March 2022. In some cases, the suspicious behavior of the autopilot did not lead to an accident, in other situations, the cars “ended up in a ditch, crashed into walls or other cars.” The issues document is internal and describes how customer support staff should respond to issues, sources said.

So, in one of the chapters it is said that the conclusion about a particular problem is prohibited from disclosing, copying and transmitting verbatim - even to owners of electric vehicles who were in an accident due to the fault of the autopilot. “Information must be communicated to the client only verbally,” the message says.

Handelsblatt journalists turned to Tesla for a comment, but in response they received a demand to remove “data stolen from the company” from their website.

In mid-May, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg urged Tesla to stop positioning its electric cars as unmanned vehicles. According to the official, none of the cars sold on the market at the moment can be considered equipped with a full-fledged automatic control system.
