The Kalashnikov Concern presented the AK-12 assault rifle, modified as a result of its use in the course of a special military operation (SVO). The presentation took place in Patriot Park, TASS reports.

The chief designer of the concern, Sergey Urzhumtsev, said that the first AK-12s entered the troops in 2019. “During the operation, there were certain comments and suggestions that the concern promptly made. The pool of comments was [collected] on the basis of the experience of using it in a special operation,” he said.

The 5.45 mm AK-12 submachine gun differs from previous models in increased accuracy and accuracy of fire, as well as well-thought-out ergonomics. The AK-12 received several Picatinny rails for mounting additional equipment.

In March, the president of the Kalashnikov concern, Alan Lushnikov, announced that the AK-12 assault rifle, modified during the special operation, would be put into production in 2023.

In December 2022, in the publication of the Kalashnikov magazine, they said that the trigger mechanism of the upgraded AK-12 was equipped with a double-sided fuse-translator flag and deprived of the firing mode in fixed bursts.
