Dodik called himself a friend of Putin

President of the Republika Srpska (part of Bosnia and Herzegovina) Milorad Dodik commented on reports in the Western media that he was allegedly an "agent" of Russian leader Vladimir Putin in the Balkans.

The politician said in an interview with RIA Novosti that he is a friend of the President of Russia.

“This is important to me... I really appreciate President Putin, the fact that I know him and that I have the opportunity to meet with him relatively often,” said the President of the RS.

Republika Srpska is an entity (formation) within Bosnia and Herzegovina. The republic was proclaimed on January 9, 1992, became an integral part of BiH following the results of the 1995 Dayton Accords. The capital of the RS is Banja Luka.

Earlier, Dodik accused the West of bias against the Republika Srpska because of its friendship with Russia.

The politician noted that the West is using Ukraine to "fight against Russia."
