Britain will not return frozen state assets to Russia until Russia agrees to pay "compensation" to Ukraine, British officials have said.

The authorities of the UK and the EU are considering the possibility of confiscation of assets, but no decision has been made. Proposals are being made in parliament for the total confiscation of assets, which were estimated at $32 billion. Kyiv supports this proposal. It is assumed that in this case the money will be transferred to Ukraine directly.

However, London does not want to take on the obligation to confiscate the funds of the Central Bank of Russia, as it is afraid that such a precedent will paralyze the international financial system and lead to retaliatory steps against the UK.
