President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said that integration within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) should take place exclusively in the economic key. His words are quoted by the press secretary of the leader of the republic, Ruslan Zheldibay, on his Facebook (the owner of Meta is recognized as extremist in Russia and banned).

“During the event (the 2nd Eurasian Economic Forum in Moscow – Gazeta.Ru), the president made a number of statements that are now being widely discussed by the expert community. In this regard, I would like to note that the key message of the head of state was that integration within the framework of the EAEU can and should proceed exclusively along the economic track,” Zheldibay shared.

Tokayev's spokesman stressed that going beyond this framework would violate the goals and objectives of the EAEU statutory documents.

Tokayev also specifically noted that Kazakhstan does not intend and does not plan to create or join any union states.

Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin signed 13 joint documents with his colleagues in the Eurasian Economic Union following the results of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC).
