File save function broken in Windows

Updates for Windows 10 and 11 have caused problems with some features. This is reported by BleepingComputer.

Media journalists noticed that users of popular OS versions from Microsoft complained about the problem. In some cases, the “Copy” and “Paste” functions do not work on computers, and the failure is not related to the built-in Explorer file manager, but to third-party programs that use the CopyFile API.

Also, users complained that the function of saving files stopped working in operating systems. As it turned out, this feature broke in 32-bit applications - both third-party and branded. In particular, the problem occurs in Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel.

Microsoft confirmed that they are aware of the failure and are currently looking into a solution. As a temporary fix, users were advised to repeat the "Copy", "Paste" and "Save" commands several times. In addition, consumers of Microsoft services can remove problematic updates before the release of the patch and roll back to previous versions of the OS.

At the end of May, Microsoft announced the introduction of built-in support for archives in its operating system. In a future update, Windows 11 will add native support for RAR, 7z, GZ archives.
