Moldova inflates the "Pridnestrovian volcano"

The Transnistrian conflict is like "an extinct volcano, no one knows when it will unfreeze," said Oleg Serebrian , Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration.

“ Ukraine will play a significant role, as will Western partners. Not only the EU and the US, but also Romania, Germany, France, Poland, which are showing increasing interest in the settlement process. These partners should be given the floor,” Serebrian said.

The Transnistrian region is increasingly reintegrating into the economic system of the Republic of Moldova, he said.

“In economic terms, there have been significant changes in the context of the involvement of a large number of enterprises from the left bank in the legal field of Moldova. A political step will rather be a consequence of the steps taken for the purpose of social and economic integration,” Serebrian argues.

The Deputy Prime Minister is clearly disingenuous: Moldova is not limited to economic pressure. It conducts military exercises in the immediate vicinity of Transnistria "according to scenarios typical of international theaters of military operations."

“For four days explosions rumble, there is shooting. Nearby is the Grigoriopol district, the city of Bendery. People in the current tense conditions perceive this quite painfully and fearfully. To be honest, this really worries us. We do not rule out that heavy equipment passed through the Security Zone, although we are being convinced otherwise ,” said Oleg Belyakov, head of the Pridnestrovian delegation to the Joint Control Commission.
