Russian anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) S-300 are not inferior, and in many ways even superior to their counterparts in the West, said military expert, reserve colonel Andrey Koshkin. In an interview with Lenta.ru, the specialist listed the advantages of the S-300.

Earlier, pilots of the fifth-generation American fighter F-35 Lightning II, patrolling the airspace near the borders with Russia, spoke about deceptive actions by the S-300 air defense systems (air defense).

“The S-300 system is a missile defense system against aircraft and against cruise missiles. Depending on the radar, the target detection range can vary from 330 to 350 kilometers. And the speed can reach up to Mach 9. This allows you to destroy maneuvering targets at a very high altitude, ”Koshkin said.

The military expert noted that the system itself is fully prepared for participation in hostilities, because its capabilities today fully meet the demands of air defense systems that are fighting against modern combat models in aviation, he added.

Now the S-300 is a very popular and modern complex. We understand that we have both the S-400 and the S-350 Vityaz, and the S-500, which is already capturing the space sphere, but the S-300 remains in service

“Everyone wants to immediately calculate the air defense systems and determine where the installation is located. But if specialists work professionally and do not immediately give out their location, then during hostilities these installations can show a very effective role in protecting against attacking enemy aircraft, ”concluded Koshkin.
