Apple has delayed production of its alternate reality headset. This was stated on Twitter by an authoritative insider Ming-Chi Ko.

The reason for the disruption of the start of production, Koh called not very positive forecasts in the company regarding how consumers will meet the new device. According to the specialist, Apple is not sure that the helmet of virtual and augmented reality will arouse the same interest as the iPhone at one time.

In this regard, the company decided to move the start of the start of production of the device by one to two months - until the third quarter of 2023. For this reason, Apple may not show the VR/AR headset at this year's WWDC event, which will take place from June 5 to 9.

In addition, due to skepticism regarding the launch of the device and problems in production, Apple has reduced the number of helmet units to 200-300 thousand units. Earlier, insiders reported that the company planned to produce about 500,000 copies by the end of the year. Ming-Chi Ko believes that the popularity of the device will be hampered by its high cost - the analyst estimated the headset of alternative reality at 3000-4000 dollars or about 230-310 thousand rubles.

In mid-March, sources told the Financial Times that Apple CEO Tim Cook planned to release the first alternate reality headset before the end of 2023, despite the desire of the company's designers to delay the announcement of the device.
