Microsoft has added promotional notifications to the Start menu for the new version of Windows. This is reported by BleepingComputer.

The innovation appeared in the OS after the launch of update KB5023778. According to journalists familiarized with the new version of the operating system, the pop-up notification contains information about Microsoft products. So, with its help, the company began to offer users to back up data via OneDrive storage.

According to Microsoft, promotional notifications are currently available to a limited number of users. The company promised that they would collect consumer feedback on the innovation.

The reporters noted that Microsoft has been testing the promotional notifications feature in the Start menu since at least November 2022. “Reaction on social media to the promotional messages in the Start menu was, to put it mildly, negative,” the authors summed up.

In early February, Windows 10 users complained about intrusive Windows 11 ads. According to consumers, notifications calling for an update to the operating system appear when the computer is turned on.
