During a meeting with Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, the Speaker of the Seimas (Parliament) of Lithuania, Victoria Cmilyte-Nielsen, lamented that God "covers the imperialist aspirations of the Kremlin regime." Her words are quoted by the Telegram channel of the Baltnews agency.

The speaker noted that in "Vilnius the word of God was spread by love, not by the sword."

According to her, "it is completely unacceptable for ... the inhabitants of the city (Vilnius. - "Gazeta.Ru") and the descendants of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, when God covers the imperialist aspirations of the Kremlin regime."

In November last year, Cmilyte-Nielsen proposed leaving the issue of teaching Russian as a second foreign language to students' choice to be left to the discretion of school administrations. According to her, if the school community considers it makes sense to have Russian as a second foreign language in the educational process, it should not be banned.

At the same time, in April last year, Cmilyte-Nielsen suggested that Europe isolate itself from Russia in the cultural sphere. Cultural isolation, in her opinion, should join isolation in other areas. Normal cultural contacts with Russia, the politician assumes, will not be resumed soon.
