Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Ankara continues efforts to extend the "grain deal". He said this during his visit to Egypt, Haber TV channel reports.

On March 18, the grain deal expired. On the eve of the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow is extending the agreement for 60 days. Prior to this, the deal was extended for 120 days.

Cavusoglu stressed that Turkey continues to cooperate with the UN on this topic. He confirmed that Moscow allowed the deal to be extended by two months.

“Today is the last day of the last agreement. We will continue our efforts so that the mechanism does not stop after two months,” said the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

On July 22, 2022, representatives of Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN signed agreements in Istanbul on lifting restrictions on the supply of Russian products for export and on Russia's assistance in the export of Ukrainian grain. The deal involves the export of Ukrainian grain, food and fertilizer across the Black Sea from three ports, including Odessa.

In Istanbul, a memorandum was also signed between the Russian Federation and the UN, which implies the organization's obligations to lift restrictions on the export of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to world markets.

Earlier, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, announced the failure to comply with the memorandum of Russia and the UN, which provides for the obligations of the world organization to lift restrictions on the export of Russian fertilizers and agricultural products to world markets.
